Cultivated chicken gets the green light in the USA
Congratulations to our friends at UPSIDE Foods on today’s major milestone in bringing cultivated meat closer to consumers – an endorsement that there are no concerns over food safety.
After the initial approval in Singapore in December 2020 it is very exciting to see that a globally leading regulator has come to the same conclusion – that cultivated meat is safe to eat.
The FDA has been taking a risk-based, science-based and practical approach to regulating this novel food which should be an excellent guide for other jurisdictions.
This step by Upside will spur further investment and innovation in the sector and make cultivated meat affordable for broader consumption.
